Reverse Osmosis (RO) Water Filtration
A reverse osmosis filtration system is small enough to fit underneath most sinks. This is typically the most economical choice for water filtering systems because of its size. A reverse osmosis water filter only filters the water of the faucet where the system is located. RO water filtration systems work in three to five stages. First, the water filter traps sediment, silt, and other large particles within the water. Next, the RO water filter pressurizes the water supply through a reverse osmosis membrane which filters out impurities, chemicals, and other harmful contaminants or bacteria. The third stage of the RO water filtration process is having the water go through another filter to ensure the water you receive is fresh, pure, odor-free and tastes incredible. The water that is not filtered through the third stage goes down the drain. Many models incorporate one to two additional filters to thoroughly clean your water supply. A reverse osmosis filtration system is great for those no longer wanting to purchase bottled water and want a sink faucet to have a water filter added to it.
Salt-Free Scale Treatment
Many plumbing issues arise from scale buildup from hard water that runs through your plumbing system. Hard water presents itself as white spots on shower doors, soap scum buildup in tubs, hard scale on faucets, and deposits in coffee makers and irons. Hard water buildup requires costly repairs or the overall replacement of pipes, appliances, and fixtures. The whole-home scale reduction system that is offered by Bill Howe Plumbing is an easy to install, eco-friendly and salt-free method to treat hard water. The nextTM ScaleStop system converts harmful minerals into harmless, inactive microscopic crystals. Some of the benefits of installing a salt-free water softener scale treatment system are that it does not waste water, protects your home from scale build-up, extends the life of your appliances and fixtures, reduces soap scum on surfaces in your shower and tub, no added salt or sodium to drinking water or no slimy soft-water feel. A salt-free scale treatment system is great for those who would like a whole-home system that is cost and eco-friendly.
Whole House Water Softener
Unlike the salt-free scale treatment system which only treats the calcium within your water, the whole house water softener removes calcium and magnesium. A whole house salt-free water softener removes the calcium and magnesium from the water that comes into your property. Water softener systems have two components – a tank filled with ion exchange resins and a brine tank where salt is stored. The resins are bathed in a brine solution which causes sodium ions to bond to the resins. The brine solution is then moved from the resin tank where household water then passes through the resin bed. The ion exchange then takes place by removing the calcium and magnesium ions and replaces them with sodium ions. The whole house water softener system carries out this process about twice a month. Compared to other systems, this does create a lot of wastewater. This also is a more complicated installation which makes for a more costly installation. A few of the benefits of installing a whole house water softener is that it reduces soap scum on faucet metals and surfaces, and decreases the calcium build-up within your piping, requiring less maintenance.
Whole House Water Filter
A Point of Entry (PoE) water filter helps to protect your home by providing clean, filtered, healthy water from every tap. A whole house water filtration works at the point of entry by removing harmful contaminants and bacteria such as chlorine, chloramines, pre- and polyfluoralkyl substances, trihalomethanes, Volatile Organic Compounds and sediment from San Diego’s tap water source. By installing this water filtration system, you can drink water straight from the faucet without any worries what may be lingering in your water. A whole house water filter provides quality tasting, odor-free clean water in an eco-friendly and cost-effective way.
